Today I’m sharing all of the details from my daughter Kyla’s Four Ever Wild safari themed birthday celebration! I cannot believe I have a four year old! Somehow four feels like a big milestone, from toddlerhood to being a kid. She’s been telling me since her third birthday that she wanted a lion themed birthday, so with her input we landed on a safari theme to give me a few more options for decorations. This was the first time that she wanted to help me plan one of her parties and we had so much fun doing it together!
FOUR EVER WILD THEMED BIRTHDAY INVITATIONS
I knew I wanted to do something a little bit different in terms of the color scheme for this party, so I headed to Pinterest for some inspiration. These adorable invitations incorporated the cutest little safari animals with the perfect girly touches. I purchased them on Etsy, customized them, and then sent them out via Paperless Post.
FOOD & DRINKS FOR A FOUR EVER WILD THEMED BIRTHDAY
I wanted to keep the food really simple, so we ordered Costco pizza and served it with salad and fruit.
We served lemonade and water in these drink dispensers from Target. These pink, sparkly cups are dishwasher safe, so we were able to reuse them from Jubilee’s birthday party, and I added these gold paper straws for fun.
DESSERTS FOR A FOUR EVER WILD THEMED BIRTHDAY
The dessert table is usually one of the main focal points of the decor, so I ordered this custom, sparkly gold “Kyla is Four Ever Wild” banner to hang over the table and tie everything together.
Kyla specifically requested an orange flavored cake with strawberry frosting. I used fresh oranges from our tree and fresh strawberries in the frosting. The juice from the strawberries made the frosting pretty runny, and you can tell from the picture that it ended up dripping off the cake onto the cake board. Regardless, it tasted amazing!
For the top of the cake, I ordered the lion, zebra, giraffe, cheetah, rhino and elephant on Amazon. I made miniature party hats out of craft paper, hot glue, and mini pom poms for each of them to wear. I love how they turned out and now that the party is over, my girls can play with the animals. The #4 is actually a sparkler candle, and Kyla enjoyed watching it sparkle before blowing it out!
In addition to the cake, I ordered donuts from our favorite donut shop and our sweet neighbor made caramel, chocolate covered pretzel sticks. They were delicious and added some color to the dessert table.
FOUR EVER WILD THEMED BIRTHDAY DECORATIONS
I opted for dried florals, once again, for this party since I can arrange them in advance. Pampas grass was the perfect choice for this safari themed birthday, and I purchased this bundle from Amazon since the color scheme coordinated well with the rest of the decor.
I bought these simple white and gold paper plates from Target, and found some gold silverware and pink cheetah print napkins on Amazon.
I always like to create a photo backdrop so we can take nice family photos and photos of the girls opening their gifts. This time I opted to hang these metallic gold fringe curtains.
These animal balloons were an easy, fun way to add to the safari theme and the kids enjoyed playing with the animals and pretending to ride them. It was quite the entertainment!
PARTY FAVORS FOR A FOUR EVER WILD THEMED BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
Stuffed animals are one of Kyla’s favorite things to play with, so I thought it would be fun for each child to adopt their very own wild animal. These stuffies were extra cute and have bean bag butts so they sit up nicely on their own. Kyla, of course, chose the lion and each child got to choose the animal of their choice and fill out their very own adoption certificate. It was a hit!
ACTIVITIES FOR A FOUR EVER WILD THEMED BIRTHDAY
We purchased this bounce house for the girls, along with some family, for Christmas. Kyla was so thrilled to have a bounce house and the kids had a blast jumping together!
Kyla also requested a lion piñata. I purchased this one from party city. I’m not going to lie, it was kind of falling apart (as you can see in the photo), and we still had to use a bat even though it was advertised as a pull string piñata. Nevertheless, Kyla was stoked. We filled it with Yum Earth Organic candy.
BALLOON GARLAND
Finally, I created this 16′ balloon garland using balloon arch tape from Amazon. I do this for every birthday party because it’s relatively inexpensive, easy to make, and it’s so festive! I have an electric balloon pump and usually try to use around 150 balloons total. For this arch I used a mixture of white, pink, green, gold and burnt orange balloons.
